Those looking for adventure and excitement will not be disappointed by what's on offer in Huaraz. In addition to offering up a host of traditional wares and farmers markets, this city is ideal for such activities as mountain biking, rafting, kayaking and skiing. Its bird watching and sightseeing opportunities are also second to none.
Cited as the biggest city in the Peruvian rainforest, and considered to be the most densely inhabited city in the world that is not accessible by road, Iquitos is a definite must-see. Situated along the banks of the mighty Amazon River, it can only be reached by boat or plane. However, once you get there, it is possible to witness the incredible array of wildlife on offer, from monkeys and macaws to turtles and herons. Not only that, but there is also a huge selection of flora and fauna to explore.
Located just 80 kilometres from Machu Picchu, the city of Cusco is another Peruvian highlight. Home to a number of historical sights of interest, museums and cultural monuments, as well as offering up a selection of mouth watering, traditional cuisine, there is a lot to see and do in this ancient city. The former capital of the Incan Empire, it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.
Peru is an incredible place to visit, not least because of the sheer diversity of places to go to and attractions on offer. And with such things as frequent
flights to Cusco, for example, it's easy and affordable to head off on the adventure of a lifetime whenever you feel like it!
